Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. The granddaughter of Trinity Broadcasting Network founders Paul and Jan Crouch claims directors for the world-renowned Christian broadcast company illegally distributed "charitable assets" of more than $50 million for their own use.

Brittany B. Koper, daughter of Paul Crouch Jr., had served as the chief financial officer and in other related positions until September 2011. She claims that after she took charge of TBN's finance department, she discovered illegal financial practices but was told to protect the information.

She claims she was wrongfully fired for refusing to toe the line in covering up the alleged illegal distribution scheme.

"Following her appointment, Ms. Koper was specifically instructed to falsify public financial disclosures, to falsify government records, and to otherwise cover up conduct of the TBN Companies and their directors that Ms. Koper reasonably believed to be unlawful," her lawyer asserts in the complaint filed in Orange County, Calif.

Koper is not suing TBN. Her allegations are part of a lawsuit against her former attorneys from Davert & Loe, including Douglass S. Davert, David C. Loe, and Benjamin N. Flint III. The law firm has worked for TBN and she is accusing them of breach of duties, inflicting emotional distress, professional negligence, and sexual assault.

"Ms. Koper sought the Defendant Attorneys' legal advice about these matters. In response, the Defendant Attorneys acknowledged that the conduct in question was unlawful but nevertheless advised, encouraged, and instructed Ms. Koper to perform and cover up such unlawful activities within the TBN Companies," the suit claims.

According to The Orange County Register, Koper is preparing documentation on her charges and will submit them the Internal Revenue Service for review.

Last fall, Paul Crouch, Jr., abruptly left the ministry founded by his father. He joined The Word Network, the largest African-American religious network in the country, in November as their new director of project development.
