The Cranmer Awards is seen as a way to introduce younger generations to Cranmer's Book of Common Prayer, the Anglican church's founding liturgy. The awards are in their 23rd year.
Young people aged between 11 and 18 who have won regional heats in Church of England dioceses and at various literary and public speaking awards, will take part in the final on March 1, at Sutton's Hospital Chapel, The Charterhouse, London.
The entrants receive marks for clarity and projection; pace, use of pause and emphasis; fluency and rhythm; natural, intelligent communication of meaning; and secure, accurate memorisation and timing.
This year's competition coincides with the the Prayer Book Society's celebration of the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Prayer Book.
