Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Dear Dr. Ratzinger:

An article appeared in the London “Telegraph” on 19 Jun 2011 entitled “Knights Templar heirs demand apology from Vatican.” The byline reads:  “The heirs to the Knights Templar have demanded an apology from the Vatican for the murder of their last leader, who was burned at the stake in the 14th century.”

As heirs of the murdered Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Cranmer, we—many of us—expect an apology from the Vatican also.  You are the Bishop of Rome;  we demand intentional truth, determined honour and an explicit apology.

As an heir of Thomas Cranmer, without your compliance, it will continue to be my duty to retell my fellow heirs of the story and godless impenitence--not just about Thomas Cranmer but the others burned at the stake in 1555-1556.

Sincerely,

/s/

Donald Philip Veitch
