Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. (Crimson Tide) Salute to Marines & Sailors: Eternal Father, Strong to Save

An aside. As a retired Marine/Sailor, an evening salute to those serving with Marines or Sailors. Our hymn. For those afloat, ashore, in deserts, in fields, in mountains, afar, aloft, submerged, away from home, away from family, suffering the pains of losses and sorrows, for those having served in the past or currently serving. We've all paid our dues and have suffered. The families paid their dues and suffered too. Children have paid too by the loss of deployed parents. God bless. We must never forget. Long live COL John Snopes, USMC, an Iwo Jima survivor and usher at our parish, a believer. He went in on the first wave, lasted 10 days, took a hit at Iwo, survived, got a purple heart, and served honorably for 30 years. Our parish is blessed by this quiet Elder in Israel, an old school Episcopal Churchman. We salute the old Colonel and all the others. As an old US Marine and Sailor, Semper Fi. Serve His Majesty--Three in One--with the same duty and fidelity.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidst the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!
