Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Anglican TV: Archbishop Venables

http://blip.tv/anglicantv/amw-2011-session-two-5334794

Anglican Men of faith learn about their role in the Kindgom from Archbishop Greg Venables.
The above line is a 53-minute presentation by the Archbishop.
I call him Greg because I'm old enough.  I call him Greg--man to man, just as St. Paul called himself Paul to his congregations.  Ecclesiastically, he is an Archbishop.

Quite frequently, Greg does not wear a collar. This stands in contrast with some Anglo-Catholics who emphasize their fashion, vestments and haberdashery.

Also, notably, Greg sounds evangelical, but not Confessional in the Reformed catechetical sense--the things children once were taught. Yet, he touches on themes that we understand.

Greg has played an important role in the establishment of GAFCON.  For non-Anglican readers, this was the gathering of some 300 Global South Bishops in 2008 who reaffirmed the 39 Articles, the BCP, and the historic ordinal.  GAFCON stands for Global Anglican Conference.  GAFCON represents 75% of worldwide Anglicanism.  In this conference, there was a challenge to the liberalized--and in many ways, apostate--global north, notably, Canterbury.

We continue our path of listening and discernment.
