Nunc Dimittis in G Major by Charles Villiers Standford

The NT lection for 8 Sept 2010, the Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity, Mk. 9.2-29.

The Lord descended from the Mt. of Transfiguration to meet a defiant demon, a demonized boy, an anxious father, an astonished crowd, and despairing disciples. The LORD of glory shines incarnate, two natures in One Person, forever. His Majesty speaks the Word and, with 100% accuracy, grants deliverance to the convulsing lad. Now, he is right of mind and heart. Spiritual death and blindness is healed by Christ in our day.

We respond with the Nunc Dimittis in G Major by Charles Villiers Standford, Choirmaster of King's College, Cambridge prior to service in the Royal Chapel.

Luke 2.29-32, Christ, the Light to lighten the Gentile world, the glory of Israel, and the Church's salvation. We belong to this Lord and Saviour and are joint-heirs with Him by grace alone, faith alone and through Christ alone.

νῦν ἀπολύεις τὸν δοῦλόν σου, δέσποτα, κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου ἐν εἰρήνῃ·
ὅτι εἶδον οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου τὸ σωτήριόν σου,
