Diarmaid MacCulloch
Diarmaid MacCulloch's recent history of Christianity is an expansive account of the religion's growth, struggles and paradoxes.

He studied history at Churchill College, Cambridge, and has written several highly-awarded histories on aspects of the Christian story.
Diarmaid resigned his ministry with the Church of England when its views on homosexuality became unreconcilable with his own.
He is Professor of the History of the Church at Oxford University and was knighted for his services to scholarship in 2012.
A History of Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years is published by Penguin.
