Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. The Museum of Idolatry: Jonas Brothers to Perform at Saddleback's Easter Service

The Museum of Idolatry: Jonas Brothers to Perform at Saddleback's Easter Service

Would like to attend and see what Rick's gig is. I'm beginning to tag these fellows as liberals. The next generation will be that. Same trajectory set by the mainline faiths at the turn of the 19th into the 20th century, as they abandoned confessional boundaries in the "quest of relevance."

As Dr. Jim Boice stated once, "What you use to get them in the front door, you'll need to keep them inside."

We are beginning to believe that "fundamental unbelief" underlies the megachurch model. Unbelief in the power of the Word of God alone, as Cranmer surely believed. Or, in the sacrament of the Table.

Jazz em,' enthuse em,' 'give em therapy,' and hype em.' Thinkers will get it.
