Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Pat Roberston: Asteroid Could Hit Earth, Bring About End Times…Possibly Next Week

When the End Times come, what will be the cause? The corruptive nature of man? Some sort of fantastical overthrow of earth? Nope, just an asteroid. At least, according to Pat Robertson. Yes, on the 700 Club, the televangelist proclaimed that an asteroid is the only thing that would possibly fulfill Jesus’ words about the End Times.

Robertson used a news item about asteroid impacts on the earth to plug one of his books, saying “I don’t see anything else that fulfills the prophetic words of Jesus Christ other than an asteroid strike.” He elaborated, “There isn’t anything that will cause the seas to roil, that will cause the skies to darken, the moon and the sun not to give their light, the nations terrified on earth of what’s happening. There isn’t anything that’s going to do that.”

Robertson warned that an asteroid could hit the earth at any time. He declared, “It could be next week, it could be 1,000 years from now. But nevertheless, we want to be ready whenever the Lord says, “I’m wrapping it up, and it’s time to come home.’”
