Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Obama Admits He Is A Muslim

Obama admits that he is a Muslim. Obama bowing before a Muslim king. Obama talking about his Muslim family. Obama quoting from the Koran. Obama defending Islam. Obama visiting a Mosque. And many more clips of Obama and his Muslim connections. Legal Disclaimer: The writers, producers, and editors of this video are not claiming or implying that Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim, or that Obama said he was a Muslim, rather they are only examining the evidence surrounding the rumor that Barack Hussein Obama might be a secret Muslim.

Phil, I've never been a fan of the O. I was Nobama '08, and remain Nobama '012. However, I add my name to the list of those who doubt that Obama is a Muslim in any meaningful sense.

Spiritually, the O seems somewhere between a kind of post-modern semi-Christian and a chameleon. He tries to be all things to all men. The clip comments are consistent with that. Perhaps it may also have something to do with Islam being "cool" for many of Obama's chosen contemporaries (despite that in a lot of the Arab world, I understand, the word for a black is "abid", which means "slave").

As for Obama's Islam, I suspect that perhaps the gymnastics of Islamic prayer may have attracted the young American stepson of Lolo Soetero as he tried to fit in with a new Indonesian environment during the time he lived there, but since it seems that Obama is innocent of either Bahasa Indonesia, Javanese, or liturgical Arabic, I doubt that the easy-going Javanese Islamic culture of his stepfather made that deep an impression on him. And, in this matter, I admit to feeling that the young Barry Obama cum SOetero deserves our sympathy.

Further, I note that Barack H. Obama, Sr., with whom the prex had only minimal contact in childhood, was only nominal in his Islam.

I censure Obama for using the "Peace be upon him" formula when speaking of Jesus to the Organization of Islamic Countries, especially since Obama had confessed himself a "Christian" (albeit of a clearly modernist stripe). A Christian recognizes that we need the peace of the God-man, crucified, risen, and glorified Jesus on us rather than the other way around. Yet this I see as something indicative of an extremely shallow grasp of any kind of theology and, despite the self-assuredness Obama puts forth, it suggests an inability to think through what words really mean on anything other than a relatively superficial level.

Further, I've heard it from some of my African-American colleagues that the Obamas have engaged in a bit of church-shopping in the Washington area. If so, I sincerely pray they get the Gospel message.

Now, this being said, I'm not voting for Obama. I don't think he's done that good a job, and I don't think his promise of doing all that better than Dubya was credible back in '08. However, given that we Evangelicals--especially Calvinisits--have been on the receiving end of so much misrepresentation from others, I think it behooves us to be just that more scrupulous in our observance of the 9th Commandment.

Excellent points, Peter. I don't think O knows what or who he is. The value of the clip, however, is probably the pandering by O. On the issue of theology or Bible citations from O, when done (e.g. National Prayer Breakfast), they can't be taken very seriously.

And, I suppose, I'd better be careful about calling Obama "the O". In my wife's native southern Chinese dialect, "o" (儿)means "a child" in one tone and "to defecate" (as in 屙屎 "o si") in another. It may be a bit respectful of government on my part.
