Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. Influences of Orthodoxy

Three important URL's with additional URL's within the second document. Rev. Robert Bennett, a former Romanist priest, converted to the Reformed Baptist perspective. He has a specialized ministry, concern, and set of insights on Romanism that merit attention. He's wrong on baptism and the Table, in our view, but not many other things. He is now calling attention to the dangers of Orthodoxy in North America. For Confessional Anglicans, this has significance since the new Anglican Province in North America appears to tolerate and allow Anglo-Roman, SSC, and Orthodox views. A curious note is Rev. Bennett's inclusion of Presbyterian "Federal Visionists" under this rubric.

Dear Partner in the Gospel,

In recent years, interest in the Orthodox Church among Christians has grown steadily, and there have been a number of converts to this religious body. Besides this, some of the main dogmas of the OrthodoxChurch are now found with those called Evangelicals in the “NewPerspective” and its “Auburn Avenue Theology” movements.

An example of this is the teaching of the Presbyterian pastors, Doug Wilson andSteve Wilkins, on baptismal regeneration, which is the same as the Orthodox Church’s doctrine. In addition, more and more Evangelical churches encourage pictures of Jesus Christ, which are quite similar to the Orthodox icons. Also, a fascination with Orthodox mysticism has permeated Evangelical churches, especially through the Emergent Church movement. Because of these data, and more disturbing facts in present-day Christian circles, we have deemed it necessary to write an article called, “The Influential Nature of Orthodoxy Endangers Christians.”

It is now posted on our Website at: http://www.bereanbeacon.org/Ortho.pdf

If you wish to get the article as a Microsoft Word document, please email us here, or on our Website, and it will be sent to you. We ask that you study the article and forward to others. We also request, if possible, that you post it on your Website or Blog. Trusting only in the Lord and His gospel of grace, Richard Bennett.

Matching our new article is a DVD called, “Is Orthodoxy BiblicallyOrthodox?” Quite similar to the article, Richard Bennett interviews Stuart Quint. However, the DVD has actual photos of Orthodoxy, churches, priests, and practices. It can be viewed on You-Tube at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmAtSNCmTr0

“Reaching Catholics with the Lord’s Love.” This topic was especiallyon Richard Bennett’s heart during the speaking engagements that he had across Scotland throughout the month of October 08. He felt it in aspecial way on the Isle of Lewis on the 14th of October when he had the opportunity to speak about it. The message expresses his deepest desire to give the correct Gospel message; and as you will see, it permeates the DVD that he made on that day.
