January 588 B.C. “Fall and Captivity of Judah.” One might wish to look at De Gaaf’s work which has been discussed elsewhere. God is disciplining and cleansing His Church, then, like now. Expect branches to break off, if not the whole trunk to be sawed to the base. New sprigs and growths will emerge. It's God's way of getting rid of the bad branches. Of note, baptisms are down by 45% in the TEC over the last 10 years. Also, 20% drop in full-time paid Minister-positions. 2 Kings 25.1ff.
The Fall and Captivity of Judah
25 Now it came to pass in
the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the
month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against
Jerusalem and encamped against it; and they built a siege wall against it all
around. 2 So the city was besieged until the eleventh year of
King Zedekiah. 3 By the ninth day of the fourth
month the famine had become so severe in the city that there was no food for
the people of the land.
