Athelm
(Died AD 926)

Bishop of Wells
Archbishop of Canterbury
Died: 8th January AD 926

Athelm is said to have been a monk of Glastonbury and to have been raised to the episcopate in 909. In that year, the two dioceses of Wessex were increased to five. Wells became the seat of one of the new bishoprics and Athelm its first Bishop.

He was translated to Canterbury, in AD 914 and died in AD 926.

Edited from G.M. Bevan's "Portraits of the Archbishops of Canterbury" (1908).
