Irish apostle to Scotland.
Birth of Saint Columba, apostle to Scotland. His
Irish name, "Colum Cille" means "dove of the church." He
may have been partly responsible for the battle of C?l-drebene. Legend says he
established his mission at Iona in penance. At any rate, he was instrumental in
establishing many churches and converting pagan Scotland.
