Remigius, Bishop (of
Rheims, A.D. 439-533, "St. Remi"), famous as the converter and
baptizer of Clovis, anointing him at his coronation with the sacred oil, from
which, as preserved at Rheims, all kings of France subsequently received
unction. He became the Metropolitan of the Frankish Church, and died in extreme
old age in 533. -- October 1st.
