He Clung to Classical Calvinism.
Cornelius Van Til, Christian Reformed theological
educator, was born in Grootegast Netherlands. He came to America in 1905 and
taught theology at both Princeton and
Westminster Theological seminaries beginning in 1928. A categorical supporter
of classic Calvinism, Van Till vigorously opposed neo-orthodoxy throughout his
teaching career. In apologetics he insisted we must not appeal so much to facts
and laws as to the final reference point that makes them intelligible. To do
otherwise is to let non-Christian systems be the final judge of truth.
