First, Mr.
(Canterbury) Welby was not attending GAFCON 2013.
Second, in a course correction or different rudders' order, then he was doing an 8400-mile detour for a quick and preliminary visit of
sorts. Now, thirdly, it appears Mr.
Canterbury will--in fact--attend a portion of GAFCON 2013.
An article By
Mr. (Rev.) George Conger
Archbishop
Welby to attend Gafcon primates’ meeting: The Church of England Newspaper,
October 11, 2013 p 1
“The
Archbishop of Canterbury has accepted an invitation to attend a meeting of the
primates’ council of the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans of the Gafcon
movement.
“The Most Rev. Justin Welby will attend part of the two-day gathering of
archbishops at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, held immediately before the
21-26 October 2013 Gafcon Conference.
“The general secretary of the FCA, Dr Peter Jensen, stated Archbishop
Welby’s “decision to come to the Primates meeting is a recognition of the
importance of such a large and significant gathering of Anglicans from around
the world and he will be made very welcome.”
