Party At The Palace - The Queen's Golden Jubilee 2002
In an obtreperous piece of vulgar and rash populism, the "Party at the Palace" was a "pop concert" held in London in 2002. The event--allegedly--was in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II held over the Golden Jubilee Weekend 1 -4 June 2002. However, it sounded like a "celebration of the cult of narcissism." The concert was held at Buckingham Palace Garden on 3 June 2002. The event was touted as the greatest concert in Britain since Live Aid or possibly ever. 12,000 people attended. An estimated 1 million "shuck and jive" people watched outside the Palace in The Mall and around the Queen Victoria Memorial. Reportedly, 200 million watched on television to the "mind numblingly stupid and enthusiast lyrics." The concert included hit (= "loud crashing bomb") songs from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The BBC Music Live Festival also occurred on the day. It would have been better dubbed the "Dead Festival." At 1 o'clock towns across the United Kingdom had bands play "All You Need Is Love" before church bells were rung around the country. This was more like an "American Freak Show." England, especially the clerics, get some discipline and return to the 1662 BCP. Start thinking. "It is appointed once from a man to die and then the judgment." The Great Litany of the 1662 BCP would be appropriate as one listens to this bizarre show.
