Virtue gets a little touchy. We are one of those bloggers who are critical of Virtue's perspectives. We've read him since he started VOL. We find many problems with him, not the least of which is his accomodation of Anglo-Romewardizers and evangelical enthusiasts (charismatics) without elucidation. Nonetheless, we continue to read him since he posts about 3-4 news stories from other public venues to every one that he and fellow mish-mashers produce. He hopes that those with discernment have come to have a measure of respect for his work. Yes, along several lines. But an emphatic "No!" along other lines. We've come to disrespect much of what is on offer. We franklydon't care...Virtue can get over it. People are reading the "fine print" and the stories that Virtue is not covering or addressing. After all, they're but journalists, not theologians, historians or exegetes. Touche.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
www.virtueonline.org 9/17/2009
Despite the disdain VOL encounters every day, I, as a professional journalist, and those who write for VOL have no choice but to stay focused on our mission: Tell people what is happening in The Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion to anyone else who wants to read and learn. VOL writes whole stories from an orthodox perspective. We write whole cloth stories. We do not drop bits and pieces of information and gossip for bloggers to rage endlessly about. That is not VOL's perspective or mission. For those who can tell the difference, we hope we have earned your respect. For those who believe we should expose every piece of gossip as news, we will not do that. You can find that elsewhere. VOL is committed to reporting and commenting on the news. You may not know it, but every story is read and re-read and passes through several hands before it reaches the website. Still mistakes are made and I am VERY grateful when a reader in South Africa, Australia or England writes with a correction or a change in nuance to make it more readily understandable. So too with commentary and AS EYE SEE IT pieces. For every story that VOL runs, we reject two or three as unacceptable. Sometimes we will suggest to the writer that they give it another shot with suggestions on improving the piece. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. VOL welcomes well written stand alone pieces that focus on the issues of the day. VOL does not have to agree with them. This past weekend, I was in Northern Virginia covering the Episcopal Evangelical Assembly at Virginia Theological Seminary, while a VOL reporter was in southern Wisconsin at Nashotah House writing stories from there. No one covers the ground like VOL. We almost never see conservative bloggers at most events. We are pleased when VOL content is re-published on blogs and sites around the world. There is no copyright on the truth.
If you read VOL regularly, please take a moment to sit down and write out a check to this vital ministry, the only serious news source between what the liberals spin or don't tell you. We have repeatedly been told that the ecclesiastical revolution in the Anglican Communion would not have happened without the voice of VirtueOnline. By telling the truth, we have made a difference. The story is not over, however, and won't be until reform and renewal take hold. As professional journalists, we need your support to make this happen. Please consider a tax deductible donation to keep this ministry coming daily to the website and weekly to thousands in digest form
